Painting faces

This video HERE is for painting a face by Celycom from NIADA, very interesting info for any kind of sculpting.

It is just a part of the whole video, but you can see enough technique.

And HERE is another painted face technique by Patti Medaris Culea, completely different approach.

Are you ready to start your witches? October is around the corner!
How about a Dia de los Muertos doll?

March, April, May...

Before another week passes, I want to share this fun and beautiful video:

I have been all into painting, and editing videos for a class I want to teach (not doll related), so please excuse the absence of postings in this doll blog.

There are some very patient dollies waiting for me to go play with them, (in fact, some are still waiting for me to finish making them!) but in the mean time I will keep drawing ideas for future dolls ♥

Thanks for visiting!

Big Maggie is visiting me!

Big Maggie has been  just kicking back for a while. First thing I had to do was fix the paint on her face, as she was not well wrapped and got here with her make up ruined :o(
At first I thought I would have to do the whole face since I had no idea what paint was used, but I managed to get a very close color! So I only refinished her little nose.

Since she just wanted to relax and it's been hot outside, I made some sandals for her, a nice little bag to match, and a hair band. Here's the video on how I made them:

She is almost ready to go back home to TX, this was her last stop. I will miss her. Her journal is beautiful, full of recipes! I really don't know what I will do to it yet.

It is so much fun to get to work and play with each doll! Thanks for stopping by.

Sculpting tutorial

I want to share this cool video on sculpting with air dry clay. There are many ways to make a doll head, and this is one of them:

My friend Mary has so much great info in her blog, don't forget to pay her a visit:

My first finished clay doll back in 2007

I want to share with you something. As shown in the original post HERE, Lavender was my first doll finished. I made many other doll parts until I more or less got it, and I was so happy that I made a video too, which was also a lot of fun. This little doll lives in Germany. I was part of a group for misbehaving orphaned dolls called Mrs. Blathersby. I understand they closed down her business because she was misbehaving herself...? ;oP

Lavender's Story

First it was just clay and aluminum foil:
 Then a funny shape:

Then a humanoind form, painted with acrylics:

All the parts attached:

Some details of the boney knees and feet:
